Destination Mountain Elopement in Colorado

AN EPIC 2-DAY ELOPEMENT IN COLORADO

Lauren & Lee wanted it all – to go to get photos at Maroon Bells & stay in Aspen, as well as elope on a mountain top in Boulder and have dinner with their family and closest friends in Denver. If you’re a Colorado local like me, you know that each of these locations is hours away from eachother.

When they told me about their wedding day dreams, I said “This is your day – Let’s do it all!” It was epic and beautiful and very special and unique to them. I even got to officiate their wedding myself! Due to the distance between locations, we spread out the elopement over two days. It was well worth it for all of these epic & gorgeous photos.

Time needed: 2 days and 9 hours.

Maroon Bells at Sunset: The First Look

First, we started with a first look photoshoot at Maroon Bells.

A “first look” is the first time a couple sees each other in their wedding attire. I always tell my couples, “Don’t let anyone pressure you into deciding for or against what you know in your heart to best the best decision for your wedding day.” While traditionally, a first look would be on the aisle, a majority of couple do their first look before the ceremony. Or in this case, the day before the ceremony.

Maroon Bells is a 4-hour drive from Denver. We timed sunset perfectly for a golden hour photoshoot with the Maroon Bells in the background. Typically, Maroon Bells is shot at sunrise to get that maroon color they are named after. However, I think the Sunset making them “purple mountains’ majesty” is equally as beautiful!

The hike was easy as we wandered around the park, where there were plenty of rivers, lakes, bridges, & trees. We even spotted some deer from the parking lot when we first arrived. Lauren looked gorgeous in her Rue De Seine Wedding Dress. The dress was very modern bohemian and looked beautiful among the mountainscape and trees. The fun fringe on the dress added an extra element of beauty to the photos.

Lee got his suit custom tailored with a fun print on the inside lining! Together, the two were stunning.

Lauren’s Rue de Seine Dress was perfect for twirling in the forest.

A Night Cap at Hotel Gerome

After taking photos and exploring Maroon Bells, Lauren & Lee came back to their hotel in Aspen: Hotel Gerome. This sophisticated and cozy hotel was a perfect place for a night cap and some additional photos for the couple.

Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement

Lauren & Lee chose Lost Gulch Overlook for their ceremony spot. It is such a perfect “Mountain Top” spot with all the views, yet also the ease of driving to the top (perfect for those in dresses). At 7,300 feet it makes for some incredibly epic photos!

Apres-Elopement Reception with Family

After their elopement, we slid down the mountain (30 minutes drive) to Denver, CO where Lauren & Lee celebrated with their closest family & friends. I may have gotten on the dance floor when Kygo started playing!
